St Petersburg, FL — The Nursing Excellence Award was recently awarded to four deserving nurses at St. Petersburg General Hospital. Eric Sorensen, RN from 1 East, Jackie Swedeen, RN from ICU, Casey Russel, RN from Women’s Services and Eugene Thomas, LPN from the Emergency Department were all distinguished for their inordinate service.
Eric Sorensen, RN 1 East
Eric always has a great attitude and a kind smile. He is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to his patients in a relaxed and comfortable manner. Eric’s patients frequently share comments about the excellent care he delivers and contributes to overall patient satisfaction. He is well liked and respected by his peers and physicians. Eric is a team player and is always willing to go out of his way to help anyone in need.
Jackie Swedeen, RN Intensive Care Unit
Jackie Swedeen has been a member of the ICU team at St Petersburg General Hospital since 2009. She is well liked by her teammates because of her contagious smile and her sense of humor. Jackie recently trained to become the ICU Preceptor and has been instrumental in training the new nurses.
Casey Russell, RN Women’s Services
Casey is a genuinely nice person and a compassionate and caring nurse. Her patients rave about the care she provides. She takes on the responsibility of relief charge with a positive attitude. The staff knows they can rely on Casey to lend a helping hand.
Eugene Thomas, LPN Emergency Department
Eugene has been in the ED for 6 years and in this has helped to grow a successful team. His wittiness and sense of humor makes his peers, the physicians and the patients laugh and ease the mood. He is kind to all patients, able to juggle a busy patient load and take on extra duties for the good of the department.
