(St. Petersburg, FL, February 3, 2016) St. Petersburg General Hospital recently appointed two new members to serve for two year terms to the Board of Trustees. Harish Patel, M.D., West Coast Neurology and Romeo Acosta, Jr., M.D., Gulfcoast Institute of OB/GYN will replace Herman Zaharowitz, M.D. and Wayne Garcia, M.D., whose terms expired.

Romeo Acosta, Jr., M.D. is the original founder of the Gulfcoast Institute of OBGYN and has been serving families in the Tampa region for over 23 years. He received his medical education from New York University School of Medicine and completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, New York. Dr. Acosta has a special interest in primary care of women, obstetrics, contraception, and minimally invasive in-office and robotic-assisted surgery.

Harish Patel, M.D. specializes in Neurology and has over twenty-five years of experience. He received his medical education from Medical College of Baroda, India. He completed his residency and research at Howard University in Washington D.C. Dr. Patel finished a year of psychiatric training at Elizabeth General Medical Center, New Jersey. In 1993, he moved to the Pinellas County where he founded West Coast Neurology in St. Petersburg, FL. Dr. Patel sees patients dealing with numerous neurological symptoms including, head traumas, anxiety, depression, and sleep disorder. He will take his place on the board for a two year term as the new Chief of Staff for St. Petersburg General Hospital.
