St. Petersburg, FL - A local gastroenterologist, Iyunni Venkata Nath, MD, of Pinellas Park, FL was endowed with the Most Distinguished Physician of the Year award for 2017 by The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin on Saturday, June 24 at the AAPI annual convention in Atlantic City, NJ. Leading physicians, health professionals, academicians and scientists of Indian origin across the country convene and exchange about medical advances, help develop policy agendas and encourage legislative priorities in the coming year.
Dr. Nath graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree from Nagpur University Medical College, Nagpur, India. A residency followed at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research in Chandigarh, India with additional specialized fellowship training in Nephrology at the same institution. A second specialized fellowship in Gastroenterology was completed at Memorial Hospital, Newfoundland, Canada. Dr. Nath has introduced new techniques to treat various medical conditions and to improve patient safety and been published in numerous scientific journals.
