St Petersburg, FL - George Hutter, MD, FAAFP, CPE is the new Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for three HCA Pinellas hospitals: Edward White Hospital, Palms of Pasadena Hospital and St Petersburg General Hospital. He is responsible for hospital-specific quality initiatives at the three hospitals and will work proactively and collaboratively with the medical and hospitals staffs to promote high quality, cost effective medical care. Additionally, Dr. Hutter will work closely with the HCA West Florida Division CMO to provide hospital leadership and support to HCA’s robust national quality and patient safety initiatives. His office will be located at St Petersburg General Hospital.

Dr. Hutter’s most recent position was Vice President Medical Affairs, Morton Plant Mease, BayCare Health System. He also served as Administrator, Clinical Research there since 2008 and was Associate Director, USF, Morton Plant Mease Family Medicine Residency Program from 1999-2010. Prior to this, he was the Program Director of St. Vincent Family Medicine Residency Program for five years in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dr. Hutter obtained his undergraduate degree in biological sciences/chemistry from Fordham University and attended medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He did his residency at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, fellowship training at the University of North Carolina and is a graduate of the American College of Physician Executives.
