Dr. LaPolla graduated from the University of Illinois School of Medicine as an honorary "James Scholar". He continued on to Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, Irvine. Once completed, he then completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Southern California where he continued his education completing a fellowship in Gynecological Oncology. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and sub-specialty board certification in Gynecologic Oncology, as well as board certified in Internal Medicine.
In addition to being board-certified Gynecologic Oncologist, Dr. LaPolla has had extensive training in the diagnosis and surgical management of breast cancer with special interest in hereditary breast/ovarian cancer syndromes.
Dr. LaPolla's professional career included positions held at the University of Iowa and the University of South Florida, where he was an associate Professor in the University of South Florida, Department of OB/GYN at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
