Addiction Recovery

Breaking the Cycle of Addiction

When faced with a drug or alcohol addiction, the idea of “detox” is that last thing many are willing to consider. Though this can be scary to some people this is the first thing they need to consider in order to be on the road to recovery. With medical options available and an ongoing desire to remain free of the stronghold of substance abuse, many individuals can resume and maintain healthy lifestyles. Inpatient medical stabilization services are now available at St. Petersburg General Hospital for adults ages 18 and older who is currently using or experiencing acute withdrawal from drugs and alcohol.

St. Petersburg General Hospital and Special Care Hospital Management Corporation of St. Louis, Missouri are contracted for just such a program. New Vision at St. Petersburg General Hospital is that program.

Medical stabilization is the process by which withdrawal symptoms are medically managed in a hospital setting.  It can be dangerous to suddenly stop using alcohol or some drugs without proper medical support. Medical stabilization makes the process of withdrawal more comfortable, thereby improving the odds for a successful recovery. New Vision is for people with drug; alcohol and health relate issues and accepts appropriate patients who are experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms. This service consists of a medically supervised hospital stay for inpatient which typically last for 3 to 5 days.

The inpatient stay includes the following aspects:

  • Pre-Screening
  • Assessment
  • Admission
  • Medical Stabilization
  • Appropriate Discharge Planning
  • Referrals to rehabilitation and counseling services

This medical stabilization service accepts most Insurance, Medicaid and Medicare plans. Come let our highly skilled treatment team of doctors, nurses and social workers help you to break free of addiction together.
