St Petersburg General Hospital Receives Additional Three Year Accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers
St Petersburg, FL - The Accreditation Review Committee of the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) recently conferred upon St Petersburg General Hospital the designation of full Chest Pain Accreditation status for the next three years.
This designation is a re-accreditation held by St Petersburg General Hospital since 2008. The hospital has demonstrated expertise and commitment to quality patient care by meeting or exceeding a wide set of stringent criteria and completing recent on-site evaluations by a review team from the SCPC.
As an official accredited Chest Pain Center, the designation also reflects the efforts of St Petersburg General Hospital in continuing education to the community about cardiovascular disease and cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) and the importance of early medical treatment for heart attack and stroke symptoms.
Early detection of heart disease and prompt recognition of typical and atypical heart attack symptoms are vital to survival. As part of a patient education video series by the SCPC, Stephen Mitchell, DO, Associate Director of the Emergency Department at St Petersburg General Hospital, was recently interviewed and filmed at the hospital. This series is to educate the public on how to recognize the early signs of heart attack in themselves or someone else and the appropriate action that should be taken.
